Real Phoenix, Arizona Impact Victorious In Futsal Showcase

Major League Futsal USA made its 2015 on-court debut Saturday with a pair of exhibitions played at The Family Life Center in North Phoenix. Four teams were featured in the futsal preseason event, playing a pair of matches. MLFUSA is scheduled to begin its first season in May of 2015.

Real Phoenix FC defeated Maracana Tucson 8-3 in the opening match. The result was no surprise as Real Phoenix came to the event with the most futsal experience (Maracana Tucson and Arizona Impact were playing in their first futsal event) of the four clubs.

2014 PASL Summer regular season winner Arizona Impact dominated Phoenix Falcons FC winning 9-4. Veteran Arizona indoor player Matt Marcum scored four goals to lead all scorers,

Impact owner/GM Patrick Fisher commented on the event saying,

“our futsal win against an experienced and creative Phoenix Falcons team showed my guys how versatile the team is. Between Matt Marcum’s four-goal game and goalie Jake Morales’ virtual shutout (OG) up until he was subbed with five minutes left, it’s tough to pick an MVP.”

As for future futsal competition for Arizona Impact, Fisher concluded,

“we appreciate the MLFUSA for allowing us to play and look forward to participating in upcoming events.”
